Ingredients and quantity
- Sambar powder
- Dry red chilli – 10gms.
- Coriander seeds – 20gms.
- Fenugreek seeds – 2gms.
- Cumin seeds – 3gms.
- Pepper corns – 5gms.
- Toor dal – 30gms.
- Bengalgram dal – 30gms.
- Curry leaves – 10gms.
- Small onions / shallots – 100gms.
- Any sweet vegetable for sambar – 120gms.
- Jaggery – 20gms.
- Asafoetida – 3gms.
- Mustard seeds – 5gms.
- Curry leaves – 5gms.
- Coriander leaves – 10gms.
- Tomatoes – 75gms.
- Tamarind – 30gms.
- Toor dal – 150gms.
- Garlic – 10gms.
Method of preparation
- Heat oil and add mustard seeds, curry leaves, small onions, tomatoes, vegetables, asafoetida and sambar powder.
- Boil the dal with garlic and turmeric.
- Add the dal to vegetables add tamarind pulp. Garnish with coriander leaves.
