Ingredients and quantity

  • Sambar powder
  • Dry red chilli – 10gms.
  • Coriander seeds – 20gms.
  • Fenugreek seeds – 2gms.
  • Cumin seeds – 3gms.
  • Pepper corns – 5gms.
  • Toor dal – 30gms.
  • Bengalgram dal – 30gms.
  • Curry leaves – 10gms.
  • Small onions / shallots – 100gms.
  • Any sweet vegetable for sambar – 120gms.
  • Jaggery – 20gms.
  • Asafoetida – 3gms.
  • Mustard seeds – 5gms.
  • Curry leaves – 5gms.
  • Coriander leaves – 10gms.
  • Tomatoes – 75gms.
  • Tamarind – 30gms.
  • Toor dal – 150gms.
  • Garlic – 10gms.

Method of preparation

  1. Heat oil and add mustard seeds, curry leaves, small onions, tomatoes, vegetables, asafoetida and sambar powder.
  2. Boil the dal with garlic and turmeric.
  3. Add the dal to vegetables add tamarind pulp. Garnish with coriander leaves.
