Ingredients and quantity

  • Beetroot – 100gms.
  • Sugar – 50gms.
  • Cashew nuts – 20gms.
  • Raisins – 20gms.
  • Clarified butter – 50ml.
  • Oil – 10ml.
  • Milk – ½ ltr.
  • Cardamom powder – 2gms.
  • Mava – 75gms.

Method of preparation

  1. Sauté the beetroot well till the raw flavour goes off. Add mava and add milk.
  2. Heat oil and clarified butter and fry the cashew nuts and raisins separately.
  3. Add sugar and cardamom powder.
  4. Garnish with cashew nuts and raisins.
  5. Note: Kheer is the Hindi word for payasam.
