Ingredients and quantity
- Split gram dal – 250gms.
- Jaggery – 150gms.
- Salt – to taste
- Coconut(for milk) – ΒΌ no.
- Clarified butter – 50ml.
- Cashew nuts – 50gms.
- Cardamom – 15gms.
- Baking soda – 2pinch
- Betel leaves – 1bunch
Method of preparation
- Fry the split green gram dal and make into powder.
- Extract coconut milk from coconut.
- Add the jaggery into the coconut milk and stir till the jaggery gets dissolve. Strain.
- Then add the green gram dal powder into milk mixture.
- Add the cardamom powder and the fried cashew nuts.
- Make it into a batter consistency.
- In a Idly steamer apply clarified butter in the leaves and pour the batter and fold it, Steam.
- A hot and sweet thambullah panniyaram gets ready.
